Sara Bubb helps staff in schools develop. She does this in many ways: through leading professional development, assessing, developing schemes, researching, and writing.
She leads England’s Advanced Skills Teacher (AST) network and has featured on and been a consultant for many Teachers TV programmes. She trains and quality assures AST assessors and inspected 25 schools. She sits on the Training and Development Agency for Schools’ (TDA) Journal’s editorial board. Sara was the consultant for Chartered London Teacher status from 2005-08 (a scheme that went from involving a small number to over 39,000 teachers) and was the London Gifted & Talented Early Years network leader. She provides bespoke consultancy for schools in the state and private sector, in England, Greece and Norway.
As a senior lecturer at the Institute of Education she is directing the DCSF research project into outward facing schools through the Sinnott Fellowships. Before this research, she directed the TDA staff development outcomes study ; was a consultant for the Effective Practices in CPD project; wrote content for the TDA CPD leader website; evaluated the NCSL Future Leaders programme; and co-directed the From Self Evaluation to School Improvement project and the DCSF-funded evaluation of the Induction Year.
She is well-known for her column in the Times Educational Supplement and as the new teacher expert.
